Monday and Tuesday Beavers and Thursday Cubs have been working hard towards their Earth Tribe badges over the past term.

The Earth Tribe Award is about helping us to understand more about protecting our world. The Beavers and Cubs became champions for nature, learning about native wildlife to England and what we can do to protect it. In particular they learnt about bees, hedgehogs and swifts, including an excellent talk from Julie Gay at Totley Swifts, all about these amazing animals.

The children worked hard at their regular meetings to make posters and crafts to sell to raise money to buy a hedgehog house, a swift box and money to donate to the Bumble Bee Conservation Trust. They also baked amazing cakes at home, and some children made additional items to sell like scrunchies and key rings, and donated plants.

The culmination of this hard work was a fantastic event on Saturday 26 April, where leaders and children came together to sell all the different things that had been made in order to raise funds for these three great causes. We are really pleased to report that the sale raised £677.35 to be split between the three aims of the event. Well done to all the children for their hard work, and for becoming amazing Champions for Natu
